New Year's resolution: 108 sun salutations, mindfully done

Get healthy with this 15 day course of daily instruction and support building up to 108 sun salutations. Starts December 28th 2016.

Starts December 28th, 2016 (New Moon is on 29th). Ends January 12th, 2017 (Full Moon)

Benefits of sun salutations are many, and these become even more powerful when correctly co-ordinated with grounded breath from deep within. This course is a challenge to build up doing 108 sun salutations on the Full Moon, by gently increasing the number of salutations each day. The daily sessions will guide and support you through this process.

During the guided sessions of Embodied Meditation, you will build a simple self-practice and learn

  • How to set the right view for your practice
  • How to use ritual and joy to help you come back to the mat each morning
  • How to tone your parasympathetic nervous system through specific breathing techniques
  • How to unify movement, mindfulness and breath into a powerful, soulful practice
  • How to perform a classical sequence of Surya Namaskar (sun salutation)
  • How to prevent injury through specific practices
  • How to deal with issues and feelings that may arise during the practice and during the course

Benefits of this course include

  • Strengthening joints and muscles
  • General toning of body / loosing weight
  • Increasing digestive fire
  • Toning the vagus nerve and the parasympathetic nervous system (underlying many digestive and mental health issues)
  • Vitality
  • Youthful skin
  • Radiating health
  • Letting go of addictions which no longer serve us
  • Feeling strong and supported

Your commitment

During this course, we will build up to doing 108 sun salutations on the full moon, by daily increasing the number of salutations.

To get the benefit, you need to commit to putting aside 1-1.5 hour daily for the duration of the course (15 days).

During that time each day, you will follow a guided session of Embodied Meditation (movement, mindfulness and breath), setting in place the building blocks, and supporting you through the increasing practice each day towards the 108 salutations.

You will gain most benefit, if you are also able to cut out alcohol and sugar for the duration of the course.

Who should join

Gertrud teaches a very gentle, classical sun salutation sequence, so you do not need to be an experienced yogi.

Experienced yogis should also enjoy the challenge, as well as Gertrud's soulful approach.

Why do we start on the new moon?

The new moon energy is for setting a vision, planting a seed. Working with the periodic cycles of the moon can support you in your journey, and has the power to bring you into closer contact with your inner source. We will grow and build a powerful practice culminating on the full moon.

"Gertrud with passion and wry wit focussed us on the profound pleasure of the breath moving through the body, effortlessly clearing and strengthening as it goes. Taking time to experience yoga at its purest and simplest offered me a sense of deep renewal and delight." ~ Ilana, 2016

We love what we do. We hope you'll join us!
