Wednesday - Preparations

Here is the overall plan:

This course starts on 28th December and ends on 12th January 2017

The course is structured so that there is a lecture for each day, with video and other information contained in the lecture to help and support you with your daily practice during the course.

Your practice each day will be to read the materials and do the guided sessions provided.

Please set aside approx 1 hour each day for the duration of the course. As we move into doing more sun salutations, you may extend your practice time accordingly.

On 3 key days, there will be live sessions, subject to technology being favourable, pre-recordings of which will be available on that day's lecture space. The live sessions will be via Facebook's Event Page (link opens in new tab). Please join the event now by clicking on that link.

If you are able, please do join the live sessions. This helps us build a group energy.

The 3 key days are as follows:

29th December 2016 - New Moon.
8am French Time - Welcome, introduction and setting affirmations

2nd January 2017
8am First practice, 10 sun salutations. Guided by Gertrud

12th January 2017 - Full Moon
8am Ultimate practice, 108 sun salutations. Guided by Gertrud

We will send out an email on the night before to remind you of each event.

What you need

Getting together all those things that will help us with this challenge, prior to beginning it, is a wise move!

Here is a list of what you should prepare and have ready:

  • Tealights or a candle, which we will light for each session
  • Matches/lighter and a safe place where to place the burning candle during the practice
  • 108 chickpeas (dry), or beads, or pebbles, and 1 bowl and 1 glass (we will use the chickpeas to keep track of our numbers). I'm using cardamon seeds. They also smell nice.
  • Your favourite jug or bottle and your favourite glass or mug for water after the practice. Place it by the candle. Buy a special mug, if you don't have one.
  • Yoga mat
  • Warm blanket to wrap around you before and after the practice
  • Sitting cushion
  • A quiet space - let your house mates/family know what you are doing and ask them to support you
  • An alarm clock. Decide on a time when you will do the daily practice. We recommend the morning. It means that you will need to get up 1-2 hours before your normal time.
  • You will receive more benefit, if you avoid sugar and alcohol for the duration of this course.

You may also wish to keep a journal. Have it by your mat each morning.

Be courageous, go for it, and, above all, enjoy!
